Red flags being raised over well water in Massachusetts after a report is released this week regarding what’s in it. It found nearly 90–percent of the state’s ground water is potentially corrosive meaning it could contain lead.

The study comes on the heels of the water crisis in Flint, Michigan which was the result of corrosive surface water from the Flint River. Unlike public water systems, wells are not’t required to be tested by the state.

It’s estimated more than 500–thousand people across the state use private wells.

Ground water in Massachusetts it’s more acidic than any other part of the country.

Health officials say you should do a quality test of your water every five years.
