Study finds that Massachusetts and Rhode Island contain biggest lottery spenders

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A new study by Lending Tree found that the biggest per-capita spenders on lottery tickets in the nation were in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

According to researchers, Bay Staters spent an average of $913 per person on lottery tickets, based on 2023 sales.

Number two Rhode Island had an average was $573 per person.

Connecticut came in sixth at $469  and North Dakota was last with just 50 dollars.
