Sunday Evening Storms

After another day of highs in the 80s and high humidity, we once again have showers and isolated thunderstorms popping up this evening. Any thunderstorms we see will have the potential to make severe conditions and a TORNADO WATCH is in effect through 8pm for Providence County. We could also see hail, downpours leading to flooding as well as frequent lightning. Given that we’re losing the light and heat of the day, our chances of seeing a tornado are slight but not zero. Clouds will stick around through the night as well as a chance of showers and thunderstorms and overnight lows will be in the 70s. Monday starts off with some early cloudiness and the slightest chance of a leftover shower, otherwise look for clearing to mostly sunny with temperatures in the 80s as well as high humidity. Naturally one would think the beach is the place to be, but there is a very high risk of RIP CURRENTS as a HIGH SURF ADVISORY is in effect through 7pm. The waters will be dangerous for inexperienced swimmers and surfers and localized beach erosion is expected as well. Please check in with lifeguards or the beach patrol to get the conditions for wherever you are. The humidity finally breaks for Tuesday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the 80s. Wednesday brings the muggies right back with a chance of late day showers and thunderstorms. Thursday looks partly sunny with a chance of showers and highs near 80. The muggies break again for Friday with mostly sunny skies and a high of 80.
