Massachusetts voters head to the polls for Super Tuesday
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Super Tuesday elections are nearly underway in 16 states and one territory.
Hundreds of delegates are at stake, the biggest haul for either party on any single day.
Among the 16 states with primaries today is Massachusetts.
Former president Trump is looking to extend his lead over Nikki Haley who has struggled to gain ground against him and is in need of several wins today.
Super Tuesday gets underway in Massachusetts at 7 a.m. when the polls open, and they will stay open until 8 p.m.
Some cities and towns are allowed to open their polling places as early as 5:45 a.m.
Every registered voter can vote in a primary election, and you do not need to be a party member to participate.
If you are registered to a party, you can only vote in that party’s primary.
If you registered to vote, your name should be on a list when you arrive to your polling location.
If it’s not and your registration isn’t verified, you have the right to case a provisional ballot.
Additionally, if you’re in line when the polls close, you’ll still be able to vote.
Maine and Vermont are also having their primaries today, but Rhode Island will not be casting ballots in today’s Super Tuesday primary.
