Suspect accused of ramming officer with car held without bail, second suspect arraigned

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The suspect involved in a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) arrest is being held without bail.

39-year-old Justin Deprospo from Rochester, Massachusetts is accused of ramming an officer with his car, prompting officers to fire their weapons at him.

He faces both felony and misdemeanor charges, including felony assault and battery and drug charges.

He’s due back in court next month on separate charges.

ABC6 has also learned of another suspect.

Desprospo’s girlfriend, Melanie Higgins was also in the courtroom.

She was also arranged on felony and misdemeanor charges, including drug possession and being in possession of a knife.

According to Friday’s court proceedings, the DEA was investigating both suspects for possession of meth and other substances.
