Suspect arrested in connection with Dunkin’ Donuts robbery

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – A man was arrested in connection with a Dunkin’ Donuts robbery that took place on Wednesday morning.

Police responded to a call of a reported robbery of the Dunkin’ Donuts on 105 Cedar St. for a reported robbery.

According to a clerk, the suspect had been a customer at the store for two hours. He then approached the counter, reached into the cash register and took an unknown amount of cash.

After the man fled the store on foot, two staff members chased and caught the suspect at the nearby Church St. at Park Place.

One of the staff members, a 22-year-old male, sustained a minor injury after the suspect stabbed him in the neck with a pen.

Police arrested Julio Santana, 22, of Worcester, M.A. and charged him with Felony Assault, Larceny U/ $1500, and Disorderly Conduct.

Santana’s court arraignment is scheduled for June 7 at 9:00 a.m. at the District Court in Providence, R.I.
