Suspect arrested in Johnston used car dealership shooting

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Johnston Police Department said it made an arrest Friday in connection with a shooting at a used car dealership that occurred earlier this week.
Chief Mark Vieira said that Ramon Abreu of Providence was charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm without a license, using a firearm when committing a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm after being convicted of a violent crime.
Vieira said the shooting stemmed from an incident between the 44-year-old and employees at the business over work being done on his car.
After arguing with two employees, he left the business only to return with a gun and shoot at each of them, striking one in the leg.
The victim suffered a non-life threatening injury.
Vieira said that Abreu was arrested by members of the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force, United States Marshals Service, and members of the Johnston Police Detective Division around noon Friday.
