Suspect arrested in New Bedford shooting

New Bedford Police have made an arrest in connection to a shooting that occurred on Sunday morning.
A warrant was issued for 20-year-old Josiahi Matos, of New Bedford, and he was taken into custody on Monday.
The shooting happened around 11:30 on Sunday. Officers responded to a call on Sawyer Street where witnesses said a man was shot outside of his apartment. The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Matos is charged with armed assault in a dwelling, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, unlawfully carrying a firearm, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. He was arraigned Tuesday morning.
Detectives are still investigating a motive and the firearm has not been found.
