Suspect in 2024 Providence murder held without bail

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The man accused of a 2024 Providence murder has been ordered held without bail after appearing in Superior Court in Providence Wednesday.

Michael Shaw was arrested on September 25th, 2024 after 57-year-old Michael Ames was found dead in his home on Westminster Street.

Police said that Ames was found with traumatic injuries and that Shaw knew him.

The superior court received Shaw’s case at the end of February after he was indicted by a grand jury.
