Suspect in deadly Cumberland stabbing in custody, police say

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — Cumberland police said Tuesday the suspect accused of stabbing a man to death over the weekend is custody.
The stabbing happened at about 3 p.m. Saturday on Front Street.
Police said they found 40-year-old Otis Diggs with stab wounds. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died.
No other injuries were reported.
Chief Matthew Benson said this wasn’t a random act of violence.
Benson said more information about this deadly stabbing will be released at a press conference at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
