Suspect in liquor store stabbing charged with murder, held without bail

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)-The suspect in Tuesday’s stabbing at a Pawtucket liquor store was charged with murder and held without bail on Wednesday morning.
Michael Alvarado, 22, was ordered to be held without bail after stabbing Ferdinand Reyes, 34, inside of a liquor store at around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police said that Alvarado confessed to stabbing Reyes when he was interviewed by detectives.
The incident happened because of a feud between Alvarado and Reyes’ girlfriends.
The two got into a fight, which ended with Reyes being stabbed.
Reyes was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he later died.
The owner of Star Wine, Victor Oliveira, confirmed with ABC6 News that a fatal stabbing took place outside of the Pawtucket business Tuesday night.
“I heard a loud bang on my door.” Oliveira explained, “I saw two guys hovering over who I now know is the victim.”
The victim’s girlfriend, Oliveira, and the victim stayed inside the building awaiting the arrival of the police.
The victim remained conscious while awaiting police, but died from the wound afterward.
Oliveira also explained to ABC6 that the two suspects fled the scene once he approached the front door.
