Providence Police have arrested the suspect wanted in a shooting over the weekend.
19-year-old Leuggen Irizzary was taken into custody on felony assault charges, accused of shooting 18-year-old Joshua Conti outside the Neutaconkanut Recreation Center on Plainfield Street on Saturday.
Police say Conti was shot around 4:30 p.m. as he was sitting in his car, causing him to step on the gas and crash the vehicle.
Buddy Cianci’s grandson, 19-year-old Joseph Cianci, has been arrested in connection to the shooting. Cianci was sitting in the car with Conti outside the recreation center when the shooting happened and is charged with possessing a weapon that is not a firearm. He was arraigned Thursday and released on $5,000 personal recognizance.
Conti, of Bristol, is still in critical condition.
