WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Woonsocket police were on scene outside of Ocean State Job Lot on Park Avenue for a reported stabbing that ended in a police chase and a flipped vehicle.

Police Chief Thomas Oates told ABC 6 News that police responded to the Ocean State Job Lot parking lot around 2:45 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

Police then saw the suspect’s vehicle driving erratically in the parking lot, which led to a police chase through Woonsocket and North Smithfield.

Oates said that at one point the suspect struck a police cruiser.

The pursuit ended when the suspect reportedly did not stop at a stop sign at Providence Street at Ballou Street, and a car with two females in it hit the suspect’s car.

Oates said the suspect’s car flipped, and he had to be extricated and transported to Rhode Island Hospital under police custody.

The two females in the other car were transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital with possible minor injuries.

The male stabbing victim was also transported to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries to his leg.

Oates said police recovered a knife at the scene, and the accident reconstruction crew is on scene at the rollover.
