Suspect shot by police in Mansfield appears in court
ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — A man shot after a scuffle with police in Mansfield appeared in Attleboro District Court on Friday, facing a long list of charges.
Police said Kevin Burke dragged a North Attleboro officer with his car at the Red Roof Inn on Sept. 12.
The incident occurred as officers attempted to serve warrants tied to drug activity and a previous incident on Sept. 5, when Burke hit two officers with his car at Mt. Hope Cemetery in North Attleboro.
An officer shot at Burke at the hotel, hitting him in the arm, as police said he attempted to flee for a second time.
Burke was located in North Attleboro later that evening, where he was arrested and found in possession of fentanyl.
He was held without bail Friday and faces a long list of charges, including two charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and drug trafficking.
He is set to reappear in court on Sept. 20 for a detention hearing.
