FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River police arrested a man on illegal firearm charges during a traffic stop in the city’s Corky Row neighborhood Friday.

Andres A. Perez Melendez, 36, was allegedly found in possession of a handgun without a license to carry during the stop.

Officers patrolling the area say they observed a known drug-involved woman exit the passenger side of a red sedan after what they call a “brief and suspicious ride.”

Officers stopped the vehicle believing that a drug transaction might have taken place.

Melendez was found in possession of the firearm, along with an extended magazine, during the stop, according to Fall River police.
