Suspects arraigned in September 2024 carjacking

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The two suspects in a North Providence carjacking that occurred in September 2024 were arraigned Wednesday.
18-year-old Jesus Nival Hidalgo, of Providence, and 20-year-old Michael Salcedo Mota, of Cranston, both pled not guilty to charges of firearm possession, assault, and conspiracy.
They were both held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions.
The carjacking occurred on Sept. 25, when a woman said two males approached her and stole her vehicle and other personal belongings while she was returning to her home on Smithfield Road.
