Parent’s in Pawtucket are concerned after a suspicious man was seen taking pictures of young girls playing soccer over the weekend.

The girls ages 9 to 11 were playing in the field near Roosevelt and Mendon Avenues when the man was spotted taking those pictures on Sunday afternoon.

“When confronted by parents he said he was a professional photographer. He was taking pictures with a camera, but also had taken some pictures with a cell phone,” said Det. Sgt. Paul Brandley.

Soon after the man described to be heavy set with brown hair was confronted by parents he left.

“We don’t know that any criminal activity had taken place; however, the activity in the context that it was put out is certainly suspicious,” said Brandley.

We’re told the man was driving a Red Mustang Convertible with Connecticut license plates. So far police have not been able to track him down.

“I’m very concerned especially for the safety of my own children, they are 11 and 16. I always tell my son not to go out by himself to always have an adult or an older teenager with them,” said Dana Malik

Many parents with young kids who live nearby, saying they’re going to take some extra precautions not knowing who this man was and what his intentions were.

“It’s not right. I don’t let my daughter anywhere out of the house. She’s about 10,” said parent Marcelino Depino.

Police are looking for anyone with information about this incident.
