Swansea man found guilty of recording teen girls in bathroom

SWANSEA, Mass. (WLNE)- A Swansea man was convicted last week after using false mirrors to watch and record teenage girls, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office announced on Monday.
Gerald Caron, 66, recorded two teenage girls who had been temporally living at his home in early 2020, the District Attorney’s Office said.
Caron had been housing two sisters, ages 15 and 18, that had recently moved out of their family’s home. The girls had known Caron for many years prior, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
The girls lived with him for five months starting in January 2020.
Over the course of their time living with Caron, they became suspicious of him. They believed that he was going into his bedroom, which was adjacent to the bathroom, anytime either of them would take a shower.
The girls said that they would hear noises coming from the wall between the two rooms, where the bathroom’s mirror was. Caron’s bedroom door was always locked, according to the girls.
In June of 2020, the sisters decided to move out of Caron’s home. One of them returned to get some of her belongings on a day where he was not home.
She noticed Caron’s bedroom door was open, and decided to look inside. When looking in his closet, she found a black towel hanging on the wall.
When she lifted the towel, she found that there was a two-way mirror in Caron’s closet, looking into the bathroom.
She ten told Swansea police, who investigated the home. During the investigation, Caron told investigators that he only had one bathroom, located upstairs, but later admitted to having a second.
Detectives located the mirror inside of the closet, and also a video camera that was mounted to a pole.
Caron is facing the following charges:
- Possession of child pornography
- Two counts of photographing sexual or intimate parts without consent.
He was sentenced in Fall River District Court to serve two-and-a half years in jail, followed by five years of supervised probation.
