Taunton emergency responders save baby from choking

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A one-month-old baby is now recovering in the hospital thanks to the help of first responders.
It happened on Monday night when officials were called to a home for a child not breathing.
According to Taunton fire officials, a Taunton Police Officer was first on scene, administering CPR.
The officer had also given the baby a series of back thrusts prior to the arrival of Taunton Fire crews.
A Taunton fire crew gave the baby a light run on the chest and cheek, in which the baby responded by opening her eyes and letting out a little cry.
She was then transported to a nearby hospital.
It appears medication had obstructed the baby’s airway, according to officials.
Fire officials gave credit to the Taunton Police officer, and said it was a good example of safety departments working together.
