Taunton man, 73, sentenced to prison for molesting pre-teen family member

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A 73-year-old Taunton man was convicted of sexually molesting a pre-teen family member, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said Tuesday.

According to court documents, Fred Walker, 73, was convicted of indecent assault and battery on a person under the age of 14 and was sentenced serve five to eight years in state prison.

Officials said that between July of 2018 and May of 2021, Walker sexually molested the boy on multiple occasions while spending time at his grandmother’s home.

The victim’s family all testified during the trial, recounting times where Walker and the victim were in rooms alone together with the door shut.

The victim’s brother also recounted to the jury about how the victim revealed the abuse to him less than an hour after learning that Walker was planning to move to Nevada.

“I am please jury held the defendant accountable for molesting the victim.  The defendant took advantage of his access to the victim when they were home alone and subjected him to very degrading and offensive touching. I commend the victim for his courage in persevering through this ordeal,” District Attorney Quinn said.
