Taunton man killed in overnight crash

WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WLNE) – A Taunton man has died following an early morning crash Wednesday in on Route 24 in West Bridgewater.

Massachusetts State Police responded to the area of mile marker 26 on Route 24 around 2:17 a.m. for reports of a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a box truck.

According to State Police the box truck was merging from the breakdown lane in front of the passenger vehicle. The operator of the passenger vehicle was unable to slow enough to avoid colliding with the box truck, and struck it from behind.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as Dwayne Williams, 46, of Taunton, was determined to be dead at the scene. The driver of the box truck was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
