Taunton shooting sends man to hospital; investigation underway

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) – Police in Taunton are investigating a shooting that happened just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Chief Edward Walsh said dispatchers received a report of shots fired near an apartment building on Highland Street.

When officers arrived, they found a 30-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.  Walsh said the man was transported to a local hospital, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Taunton police said they do not believe that this was a random incident.
