Taunton woman found dead in her apartment

Police in Taunton are investigating an apparent homicide after a woman was found dead in her own home.

Vanessa Courtney, 23, was found by her girlfriend Monday afternoon in their apartment. Courtney was already dead by the time she was found.

Police say that Courtney was stabbed or slashed to death. The investigation is under the charge of Assistant District Attorney Katie Rayburn, who is the deputy chief of the homicide unit.

Authorities have released no further information.
