Taxi hit and run sends elderly man to hospital

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A 70-year-old man is in stable condition after being struck by a taxi early Friday evening.

Authorities say they responded to Sabin St around 7 p.m. for a report of a hit and run.

Upon arrival, police learned that an unmarked white Buick taxi had struck the victim, while a passenger was inside.

The passenger was able to call police, but the taxi drove off.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital and is in stable condition.

Police are searching for the driver of the taxi.
