Taylor Swift fan armed with burglary tools arrested near her Watch Hill home

WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE) – An Iowa man was arrested Friday after police found him prowling the area nearby Taylor Swift’s Watch Hill home with a backpack full of burglary tools.

Westerly Police were called to the Watch Hill Boatyard around 9:00 p.m. Friday for reports of a suspicious man. When officers arrived, the suspect attempted to leave the scene, wearing a backpack with an aluminum baseball bat visible.

Police arrested 32-year-old David Liddle, of Iowa, after finding the bat, crowbar, over 30 lock picks, and other assorted burglary tools in his backpack.

According to Police, Liddle was seen by the front gate of Swift’s residence earlier in the afternoon.

Liddle told police he was visiting Swift’s home, saying the 29-year-old pop star was a personal friend.

Police said according to Swift’s security team, Liddle is on a security watch list, and may have tried to visit her properties in the past.

Liddle was charged with possession of burglary tools and weapons other than firearms. He was held on $10,000 bail.

He was issued a no-contact order and ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.
