Technology expert testifies in Karen Read retrial

DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Jurors heard complicated testimony from a technology expert Monday morning.

At issue is a search made by Jen McCabe on her phone, which said “how long to die in cold.”

According to the Associated Press, Jen McCabe had previously testified that after O’Keefe’s body was found, Read asked her to search how long it takes to die of hypothermia.

The expert testified for the prosecution, and said the search was not necessarily made at the time it was logged into her phone’s data.

The search became a flashpoint for debate between supporters of Read and those who think she’s guilty.

Her supporters argue it’s another piece of evidence that there was a conspiracy to cover up for the real killer of John O’Keefe.

The prosecution is using this witness in an attempt to counter that defense narrative.
