TEDxURI is now open for auditions

KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — TEDxURI is seeking presenters to tell their stories about innovation and challenge others to think big.
URI is looking for a diverse group of presenters who are willing to share their perspective on innovation by telling their own stories about how they engage in innovation and where it fits into their lives.
Auditions to be a presenter are open to the URI community and general public.
Maling Ebrahimpour, former dean of the College of Business and the organizer for TEDxURI shared, “This year, the TEDxURI team is thrilled to offer an incredible opportunity for individuals brimming with passion and a desire to share their unique perspectives on innovation.”
He adds, “Our team carefully chose the theme innovation to empower presenters with the utmost freedom to articulate their groundbreaking ideas, whatever they may be. Join us on this inspiring journey of creativity and discovery.”
Potential presenters are encouraged fill out an application as well as submit a video audition up to three minutes previewing their story. Applications must be sent in by Tuesday Feb. 6, at 11:59 p.m.
Videos must be uploaded to YouTube and linked into the application and must be set to public or “only those with the link can view.” Judges will not be able to view videos set to private.
The selected individuals will be coached by URI professionals to develop a five to seven minute presentation, beginning the week of Feb. 19.
The TEDxURI 2024 event will be held Sunday, April 7, at 2 p.m. in Edwards Hall on the University of Rhode Island’s Kingston Campus.
TEDxURI are independently organized local events that aim to inspire people and give them a TED-like experience. The presentations will be streamed live and recorded for later viewing.
