Teen’s moped crash results in New Bedford illegal firearm arrest

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A moped operator went through a stop sign Tuesday night and crashed into another vehicle, eventually leading to the discovery of a loaded illegal firearm, according to New Bedford police.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Parker and Cottage Streets where police say 18-year-old Kaydence Andrade failed to stop at the marked intersection.
Andrade, of New Bedford, allegedly fled the scene on foot and was apprehended by police.
A pistol with a defaced serial number loaded with nine live bullets was found in Andrade’s possession, according to New Bedford police.
