PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence firefighters might soon have a new contract, but the City Council Finance Committee isn’t happy about the new agreement.

The Providence City Council’s Finance Committee held a public hearing Monday evening to discuss the five-year tentative agreement with the Providence Firefighters.

Authorities from the Finance Committee are not endorsing the contract, but are sending it to the full Council.

John Igliozzi the Finance Committee Chairman, said mid-fiscal year budget reviews will also be conducted to analyze spending by the department against the budget.

The contract will be presented before the full Council in January.
