PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Jean Juggan home in Pawtucket doesn’t lack in Christmas decorations.

The little sisters of the poor who run the elderly facility make sure of that, but outside the home, the annual nativity scene is noticeably bare.

"The statues are missing and now the spirit of the home is down, instead of joyful," said Sister Mercy Andrades.

Mary and Joseph were gone; stolen by thieves in the night.

The statues were donated to the non-profit organization by an employee at the home in honor of her late mother. She’s now hopeful that they will be returned before the holiday.

"I do feel its Christmas and like my mother has been violated, please bring it back. Please return it," said Michelle LeGrande.

Surveillance video showed three men helping themselves to the two statues and a light up reindeer.

One of the brazen thieves even looked straight at the camera.

The police have been notified of the theft, but above an arrest the sisters say they want to see the display put to good use.

Truly embodying the giving season, the sisters offered to give up their baby Jesus statue to the thieves as well.

"Whoever took it I hope they are not going to destroy it. They can use it for a good purpose and I’m even willing to give them baby Jesus as well to complete their set," said Sister Mercy Andrades.

The nativity set is valued at several hundred dollars but for the residence and the sisters, it’s not about the money, but the spirit of the season.

"We hope you can find it in your heart to return them please do so, you’d make the elderly happy and that’s what we are here to do," said Sister Mercy Andrades.
