JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Police have arrested a woman suspected of stealing a package off of a porch in late November.

Homeowner Kristina Perez lives on Custer Avenue with her wife and two toddlers. One day last month, she was waiting for a package of toys to arrive.

“You see it on the news and everything, but it’s never happened to us. My spouse had called and said it was delivered. So, I’m looking all around the house…front, back, nothing. Gone.”

She thought it might have been dropped off at the wrong house. It wasn’t until the next day when she asked her neighbors to check their surveillance footage that she saw the thieves.

“They pulled right up, ran right on the porch, and took off.”

The thieves were caught on camera following a UPS truck, and as soon as the package was dropped off, they swiped it from the Perez’s doorstep.

Perez said she does a lot of online shopping, as going to stores is hard with two young children. She’s waiting on a few more packages this season, so she posted a sign Wednesday that asked for packages to be delivered to the back door.

“I don’t know if they’re gonna come back, you know if it’s gonna happen again.”

Perez had her presents refunded, but she wanted the thieves caught before they try to ruin another family’s holiday season, and one has been.

Miosotys Rios, 25-years-old, of Providence was arrested on charges of Misdemeanor count of Larceny.
