Thieves steal thousands of dollars of meat from Smithfield farm

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) – Police in Smithfield are searching for a pair of beef burglars suspected of stealing thousands of dollars in fresh meat from a local farm.
Owners of Blackbird Farm in Smithfield told police that two men broke into the farm on Douglas Pike around 10:30 p.m. Monday, stealing all of the beef from their freezer.
They said most of the beef was already sold to customers ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.
Anyone with information on the burglary or the suspects is asked to call Smithfield Police.
