Three injured in New Bedford shooting

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Three people were shot at a park in New Bedford on Sunday.

It happened at Monte Park on Acushnet Avenue around 9 p.m.

According to officials, upon arrival to the scene, officers learned that three individuals had sustained non-life threatening injuries.

All three were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Six people were shot back on July 8 at the same location. 

In a statement, Mayor Jon Mitchell said:

“There is no place in our City for these brazen acts of violence, and those responsible will be held accountable. The New Bedford Police Department is working around the clock on this investigation and is beefing up patrols throughout the neighborhood.”
