Thunderstorm Threat Today

BEACH ALERT: All Southern New England beaches have a high rip current risk and are expecting dangerous rip currents through this evening. The National Weather Service advises:

“Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.”

Wednesday starts with plenty of sunshine, but as we go through today, temperatures will soar into the upper-80s and humidity will become uncomfortable. As a result, we have a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. It’s overnight tonight where we are expecting showers and the potential of severe thunderstorms. Severe storms can make torrential downpours that can lead to localized flooding, hail, damaging winds and frequent lightning and all are possible tonight. Early Thursday morning will have a leftover shower or two and lots of clouds. We will clear to mostly sunny through the day and the humidity will drop into comfortable levels while highs top out near 84. Friday will be the belle of the ball with highs in the 70s and comfortable dry humidity levels and all sunshine. Both weekend days have a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the 70s Saturday and lower-80s Sunday. Sunday will also have a chance of showers in addition to muggy humidity levels.
