Thunderstorms Tuesday, But Nicer End to the Week!

Not a bad start to the workweek here in Southern New England, but the weather is changing rapidly as our next storm approaches.

Overnight, expect a warm, muggy feel with temperatures on either side of 70 degrees. We’ll be mostly cloudy and have some patchy fog as well. As a warm front moves through the region, we could also have a few showers and even hear a rumble of thunder early on Tuesday morning (close to sunrise).

From there, we get a small break in precipitation, with a shower or pop-up thunderstorm possible Tuesday afternoon, but no widespread rain. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s/low 80s However, as a cold front rolls through in the evening, we could see a second round of rain and thunderstorms. Timing on the evening round looks to be well after sunset, between 9:30 PM – 1:00 AM. While the severe potential with this line is low, it’s not zero. One or two storm cells could have some heavy rain and gusty winds, along with thunder and lightning. Make sure you’re staying weather aware!

Wednesday starts off a little murky with a stray shower early in the morning, and clouds slooowly decreasing throughout the day (highs in the low to mid 80s). That said, the weather should be quite comfortable in time for the fireworks in Providence to kick off at 9 PM!

Thursday gives us another day to watch… or rather a night to watch. We’ll have a mix of sun & clouds during the day and highs in the upper 80s. It’ll feel a bit humid by the afternoon as well. That said, the reason Thursday is notable (weatherwise), is that a small area of low pressure could throw a stray shower our way in the late evening, something we’ll need to keep an eye on for the fireworks in both New Bedford and Bristol.

Friday (the 4th) looks fantastic. We’ll be less humid and mostly sunny, with temperatures in the low 80s!
