Ticket prices soar for AFC Championship game

Preparations are underway at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro for Sunday's AFC Championship game. Crews spent the afternoon painting the championship logo on the middle of the field.
Fans are anxious to get a seat at the big game although the prices are skyrocketing. On some sites the seats are in the thousands of dollars. The average ticket costing fans a little more than $500. That's nearly double the price from last years AFC Championship.
If you're looking to score tickets for the game you should watch out for scammers. The Rhode Island Attorney General's office says the best way to avoid picking up counterfeit tickets is to buy from a certified seller. It's a good idea to pay with a check or credit card so you can stop your payment if you find out your tickets are bogus. Also, before you buy, check the stadium chart to make sure the seat you are getting actually exists.
Rhode Island has a special statue regarding ticket scalping that buyers should be aware of.
“No one may re–sell a ticket for $3 above or $10% more than
the ticket price listed on the ticket,” said Tammy Miller of the Consumer Protection Unit at the Rhode Island Attorney General's office.
Fans will get a chance to buy tickets starting this Thursday. The Patriots will be releasing a limited number to the general public starting at 10 am. They will be available on Ticketmaster. Single tickets are available in each price category. Playoff pricing is set by the NFL. The individual ticket prices for the AFC Championship Games range from $269 to $120.
