Time capsule from longest baseball game ever played found at McCoy Stadium

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — One week after finding a time capsule underneath McCoy Stadium, Shawmut Design and Construction announced that they had found the other time capsule believed to have been under the stadium while demolishing it.
That capsule commemorates the longest professional baseball game ever played, which happened at McCoy when the Pawtucket Red Sox beat the Rochester Red Wings in 33 innings.
The other time capsule dated back to 1940, when when then-Pawtucket mayor Thomas McCoy placed it into the stadium’s cornerstone.
Shawmut stated that they believe the demolition of McCoy Stadium will be completed by the end of May.
The contents of both capsules will be revealed in a ceremony on June 23– the 44th anniversary of the conclusion of the game.
