Crews responded to a fire on Mill Street at Bourne Mill just after 2 a.m. Monday morning.

The building was completely engulfed in flames.

The complex has a massive apartment building, but thankfully the building was vacant.

Tiverton’s fire chief tells ABC6 that until a few months ago, the building was used for training purposes so that made it easier for crews to knock the fire down Monday morning. However, he says its location though has been a challenge.

City officials are concerned that the materials and debris from the old building could contaminate the Cook Pond, which is the water source for Fall River. The officials say they will be keeping a close eye on it.

At this point, the chief believes the cause is suspicious. The fire marshal is on the way.
