TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A Massachusetts woman has been charged with child neglect after Tiverton police said she left her infant and dog in a car while she gambled inside Bally’s Casino.

Tiverton police said they received the call of an unattended infant in a vehicle in the casino’s parking garage at approximately 7 p.m. Saturday.

Arriving officers and casino security personnel located the unlocked Toyota in the upper level of the facility’s parking garage.

They found a 15-month-old child asleep in the car along with the small dog.

After checking the vehicle registration, Elyse Busch, 35, of Onset, was located inside the casino playing a slot machine.

She was confirmed to have been inside the casino for over 30 minutes according to security footage.

Busch was arrested and charged with cruelty to or neglect of a child and the infant was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital for evaluation.

Rhode Island DCYF was notified of the incident and the infant was released to a family member.

Busch was arraigned and released on $3,000 bail and will appear in Newport District Court on July 17.

The investigation into this incident remains active.
