Toddler struck by car in Pawtucket has died

Maxwell Teixeira, the 16-month-old toddler that was struck by a family member’s car Tuesday afternoon, has passed away.

The accident happened in the area of 829 Main Street at around 2:20 p.m. when police say toddler was hit by his father’s vehicle.

Maxwell’s grandmother, Rosa Battista, told ABC6 that she was inside when the incident happened but says the boy’s father hit him as he was backing out of the driveway.

This child was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in critical condition, but succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

The investigation is ongoing, but Pawtucket Police believe it to be a tragic accident.
