Topgolf Rhode Island cuts the ribbon and officially welcomes the public

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The long awaited Topgolf Rhode Island opened its doors to the public Friday morning at 10 a.m.

Topgolf hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. making the grand opening official.

ABC 6 was told they are already sold out of reservations for this weekend.

Cranston Mayor Ken Hopkins gave remarks at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

“Walt Disney once said it is okay to dream the impossible, because sometimes it does come true,” Hopkins said. “Well today he is with us. He had that vision, that impossible dream has now come true.”

Rhode Islanders could not wait to get their feet in the door.

“Now that I have seen the establishment and the wait it has made. It is gorgeous, I love it. I know I’ll be here again, I don’t play golf but I am going to learn,” Marilyn Wade of Warwick said.

Some traveled over state lines to get a swing in.

“I am so excited. I found out the other day that I was going. It is like my fifth time going but there has never been one so close to us,” Aaron Sheena of Boston said.

“I am pumped. We went in Myrtle Beach before and that was our first experience with it. So as soon as this opened we had to get down here and get in,” Connecticut resident Jason Calouro said.

Topgolf is a year-round venue, with over 100 climate control hitting bays. You can reserve your spot online.
