Traffic patterns in place on Route 37 in Cranston

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department is putting a new traffic pattern in place for 6 a.m. this morning, part of its $85 million Cranston Canyon Project addressing deteriorated bridges from Route 37 to Interstate 295.

The work began around 8 p.m. last night, as RIDOT shifted all lanes on of Route 37 east to the right onto newly constructed portions of four consecutive bridges that RIDOT built in the last year.

The changes will continue overnight tomorrow, as RIDOT shifts one lane on Route 37 west, a change that will be in place for the next year to accommodate milling, paving, and setting traffic into its more permanent pattern moving forward.

RIDOT has said around 84,000 commuters use this path every day, so drivers will need to keep an eye out for work zones and slow down when they make their way through the area.
