Train takes down wires, crossing gates in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A freight train took down a utility pole and crossing gates in New Bedford on Tuesday.

Police said Tarklin Hill Road is closed after the train hit low-hanging wires, knocking down the pole and gates.

Mayor Jon Mitchell added that the train collided with a railroad mast arm.

Officials said no one was hurt in the incident and no other vehicles were involved.
