Trial begins for man accused in 2023 Mother’s Day cookout murder

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Trial begins this morning for the man accused in a 2023 murder in Providence.

53-year-old Luis Sepulveda is facing seven felony charges.

Police accuse him of shooting and killing 44-year-old Angel Rodriquez at a Mother’s Day cookout two years ago.

Police say the gunfire stemmed from an argument.

Today’s trial is expected to begin with jury selection at 9:30 a.m.
