Providence, R.I. — It was a night of fireworks at the second presidential debate.
Donald Trump was on the attack after an explosive weekend for his campaign. An audio leaked from 2005 showed Trump saying lewd comments towards women.
Some Republicans even unendorsed the candidate, but Trump says he is not giving up and made that clear during Sunday night’s debate.
The battle between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump was full of drama from the start. So much so that the candidates did not even shake hands.
“This was locker room talk. I’m not proud of it. I apologized to my family. I apologized to the American people.”
Trump moved from what he said in the unearthed video and accusing former president Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct.
“If you look at Bill Clinton, far worse, mine are words and his was action.”
Hillary Clinton did not indulge, insisting instead that Trump can not be the next president.
“What we all saw and heard on Friday was Donald talking about women. What he thinks about women. What he does to women. And he has said that the video doesn’t represent who he is. But I think it’s clear to anyone who heard it that it represents exactly who he is.”
Then they sparred over Clinton’s email scandal. Trump said if elected, he would appoint a special prosecutor.
Clinton slammed Trump for not paying his fair share of federal taxes.
“Did you use that $916 million loss to avoid paying personal federal income taxes?”
“Of course I do. Of course I do. She complains that Donald Trump took advantage of the tax code. Well, why didn’t you change it when you were a senator?,” countered the business mogul.
The candidates are back on campaign trail hitting battleground states. Hillary is campaigning in Ohio and Donald Trump will be in Pennsylvania.
