Trump officially accepts Republican Nomination

Donald Trump officially accepting the Republican Party nomination during his speech Thursday night at the Republican National Convention.

Trump’s remarks capping off the four-day convention in Cleveland. He was introduced by his daughter Ivanka Trump who spoke just before him.

“I have a message for all of you: the crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end. Beginning January 20th 2017 safety will be restored,” said Trump. “American is far less safe- and the world is far less stable- than when Obama made the decision to put Hillary Clinton  in charge of America’s foreign policy.”

The speech grating into presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

“As long as we are led by politicians who will not put America first, then we can be assured that other nations will not treat America with respect. This will all change when I take office,” said Trump. “My message is that things have to change- and they have to change right now.”

Providence College Political Analyst Dr. Joe Cammarano watched the speech at ABC 6. He shares some of his thought, "I think tonight he did what he had to do his daughter set him up well and his talk really honed in on the two or three things that he’s going to focus on law and order of course, return to values, immigration and a little bit about trade."

Meantime, the Democratic National Convention kicks off in Philadelphia on Monday. Clinton is expected to announce her Vice President in the coming days. We do know that Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is among those on the short list. It was announced Thursday that she will be speaking at the convention.
