Trump tariffs raise cost of baby carriages, other gear for new parents
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — President Donald Trump’s tariffs have caused issues for new parents, as retailers and trade policy experts say the vast majority of children’s and baby gear products are manufactured exclusively in china.
They also say those products cannot be produced in other countries, including the U.S., anytime soon.
As a result, the prices for the leading brands of strollers have already gone up by hundreds of dollars.
The online baby registry Babylist said the cost of car seats has gone up on average by 20 percent.
