A passenger was arrested at T.F. Green Airport Tuesday after a loaded firearm was found in his carry-on luggage.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) discovered the .38 caliber Ruger firearm in 33-year-old David Allen's luggage before his flight to Baltimore Washington International Airport.
Upon locating the firearm, the TSA immediately notified local law enforcement who arrested Allen at the security checkpoint.
This is the first firearm found in carry-on luggage at T.F. Green this year. Individuals who bring firearms to security checkpoints are subject to criminal penalties. Civil penalties can charges passengers $1,500 to $11,000 for a single firearm violation.
The airport released a statement saying Allen was charged with carrying a weapon without a permit under RIGL Sec. 11-47-8 (a).
