Turning Colder
As we finish these last days of autumn in Sothern New England, we have some bug changes in store. Today we are expecting tons of sunshine and breezy conditions with seasonable highs in the 40s. Clouds begin to build in tonight in advance of the development of a coastal storm. While the bulk of this storm will remain out to sea, we will be on the outer fringes where temperatures will be dropping and showers have the potential to be snowy. Friday morning will be cloudy and chilly with lows in the 20s. Friday afternoon will include the onset of precipitation, and the precipitation type will be temperature-dependent. Coastal regions will be near 40 in the afternoon and will likely begin as rain while the interior will be in the lower-30s and could see snow showers to start. This will lead the possibility of a hazardous Friday evening commute. As the storm stays off shore, precipitation will be pretty continual along eastern Massachusetts, while shutting down from western Rhode Island. As a result, highest snowfall totals will be in eastern Mass, and could amount to an inch or two. Keep in mind, any deviation of the track of the storm will mean a big change in precipitation type and amounts. Saturday is the start of Winter with the Winter Solstice at 4:21 AM. Saturday will be mostly cloudy in the morning with a chance of a leftover snow shower before clearing through the day. It will be colder with highs in the lower-30s. The real cold air arrives Saturday night as lows drop to near 10 and Sunday’s highs will struggle in the 20s despite a day of sunshine. Monday will also be sunny and cold with lows in the single digits and highs in the upper-20s. Clouds build in and temperatures moderate for Christmas Eve on Tuesday. Tuesday will be dry with highs in the upper-30s. Santa may have a few snow showers around Tuesday night as temps drop into the 20s. Christmas Day Wednesday looks to have a blend of sun and clouds with a slight chance of rain/snow mix showers.
