Twenty-five injured after Green Line trolley crash in Boston

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) – Twenty-five people were injured when two Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Green Line trolleys collided on Commonwealth Avenue.

According to our sister station, WCVB, the collision happened near Boston University’s Agganis Arena.

Twenty-five people suffered non-life threatening injuries. According to WCVB, witnesses of the crash say the two trains were heading outbound, when one stopped and it suddenly “jerked forward.”

The cause of the crash is not known.

Footage of the trolley shows severe damage on one end, part of it bent inward.

Green Line B Branch trains were suspended between Packard’s Corner and Kenmore.
